Ackersate heeft gouden classificering Green Key
Ackersate has a gold Green Key classification
Green Key, formerly known as the environmental barometer, is the international quality mark for sustainable businesses in the recreation and leisure industry. At Ackersate Holiday Park, we are proud to have been awarded the GOLD classification: the highest possible rating!
This classification is not easy to earn: we do everything we can to protect the environment without compromising on comfort and quality for our guests. We go a step further than what is required by normal laws and regulations.
Sustainable swimming pool
The Ackersate swimming pool has technical features that are not visible to guests, but certainly contribute to the sustainability of our holiday park. Biomass (pellets) is used to heat the swimming pool. As a result, natural gas consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by more than 90% in this area.
The paddling pool is emptied after closing time, after which the water is kept warm in the buffer cellar. This also applies to the water from the Crazy Crone slide. The underground buffer of approximately 6 m3 is located under the slide stairs. When the pool is empty, it can be quickly filled with water from the buffer cellar.
Heating
To prevent the heating from being left on unnecessarily in our bungalows, Ackersate uses the ICY system. This allows temperatures to be adjusted remotely. Motion sensors are also used. When the motion sensor no longer detects any movement, the heating returns to the starting temperature after a while.
Even more sustainability at Ackersate
Ackersate has a fully electric company car. Charging stations are available at the park and the new parking lot for guests with electric cars.
To maintain our gold classification, we at Ackersate are doing even more. This includes:
- keeping track of consumption data,
- timers on the showers,
- lowering the water pressure in the showers to reduce water waste,
- only printing when necessary,
- waste separation,
- supporting social initiatives,
- serving Fairtrade products, and
- working with suppliers who have also taken CO2 reduction measures.
What can you do to contribute?
At Ackersate, we strive to operate sustainably in all areas, and you can assist us with a few small choices. No hassle, but with impact.
In your accommodation
- Turn down the heating when you leave and close windows/doors when the heating is on.
- Ventilate smartly: briefly airing a room works better than leaving a window open for a long time.
- Turn off lights in rooms you are not using and do not leave chargers plugged in unnecessarily.
Chemical toilet/cassette toilet
- Only use products that are suitable for the campsite (preferably environmentally friendly) and follow the dosage instructions on the packaging.
- Only empty your cassette in the designated area — not in toilets/drains.
Shower & water
- Shower a little shorter: every minute saves water and energy.
- Don't leave the tap running while brushing your teeth or washing up.
- Only turn on the dishwasher when it is full (and preferably select the eco setting).
Waste separation
- Separate your waste and use the waste collection points in the park.
- Bring reusable bags/bottles and choose less packaging where possible.
- Prevent waste: take what you need and save leftovers.
Transport in and around the park
- Take your bike or walk around the park. Enjoy the beautiful nature around you!
Nature & environment
- Stay on the paths and leave plants and animals alone.
- Do not throw anything on the ground and clean up any litter.
See something that could be improved?
Feel free to report it to reception (e.g., a leak or something that is left on unnecessarily). We will fix it quickly!
